About Me
Actually, this is not about me. Bill Boot is not my real name and that is not my photograph.
I have a real gift for choosing careers in solid, stable professions with excellent prospects.
And that’s about all the personal information you’re going to get, for a number of reasons. First, my employers would probably dislike being associated with my opinions, and I want to keep my job. Second, people close to me might feel the same way, and I want to keep my friends. Third, if what I have to say holds any interest, it’s not important who I am, and if it doesn’t, it’s even less important.
So this is not a highly intimate record of my day-to-day life. Some personal details may leak out from time to time, but only because I want to establish that I know what I’m talking about. I don’t trust a writer whose opinions are not rooted in things he’s seen and done, and I don’t see why you would, either.
I conceived of this blog as a way to help explain Europe, and especially Britain, to Americans, who famously don’t know the first thing about foreign countries, and America to Europeans, especially Brits, who think they know a lot about the United States but usually haven’t got a clue. I’ll probably deal with some other things as well. If anything I have to say interests you, I hope you’ll drop by again from time to time.
